Will the Winnipeg Jets trade Andrew Ladd at the NHL trade deadline?

TSN: A report emerged claiming contract talks between Andrew Ladd and the Winnipeg Jets had broken off. It is believed that the Jets would rather keep Dustin Byfuglien over Andrew Ladd. Ladd is after a six-year contract with an average annual value north of $6 million. That’s not going to happen in Winnipeg. The Jets could fetch a 1st round pick if Ladd is traded.

Loui Eriksson likely to be traded at the deadline

CSNNE: It is looking more likely that Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson will be traded at the NHL Trade Deadline. GM Don Sweeney is very hesitant to re-sign right wing Loui Eriksson to a five- or six-year deal worth $6 million annually. Eriksson could fetch a first-round pick and a prospect as a rental player, but it is believed Sweeney wants defensive help. He could package Eriksson with draft picks to teams that need scoring help i.e. Minnesota Wild for Matthew Dumba, Anaheim for Sami Vatanen, or Winnipeg Jet’s for Jacob Trouba.

Will the Ottawa Senators trade Jared Cowen?

TSN: Frank Seravalli suggests a buyout cap credit could actually enhance the trade value of struggling Ottawa Senators blueliner Jared Cowen.  “If Cowen is bought out of the final year of his deal in June, the net result will be a rare $650,000 salary-cap credit for next season, which could help a team cover potential overage penalties paid out from this season.” There are 10 teams this season that are on track to start next year with an overage. Interested teams would be the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers.
